My online poker adventures

I am struggling to improve my 6max game. At times things were so frustrating -- I win some, lose some and make no money overall.

On the other hand my SNGs were doing well. I have found myself getting into the money quite often lately.

And then my fortunes reversed on Monday -- I lost quite a few SNGs but turned in a very nice 6-max late evening session.

My bankroll is now at 1730, meaning I haven't really made any progress this month, but that's okay because I'm still learning new games.

Anyways, here are a few interesting hands:

Friday evening:

I limped with JJ, flopped a set and turned the full house. BB called my small flop bet, caught trip 2s on the turn and smoothly hung himself.

Shortly afterwards I gave it all back in a similar situation, with what I thought was a BB special trip 2s, but someone else flopped a house already. @#$%^&*!

http://www.pokerhand.org/?829463
AK massive preflop all-in against a loose maniac -- I had his KQ dominated, and I prevailed.

AJ vs AT against the same maniac, A on flop, I had him barely outkicked and finished him off.

Another AK preflop all-in, this time against a non-maniac. I was uber-dominated. Fortunately it was only for a small price.

I flopped bottom-2 in this raised pot, but it turned out that I was in a race situation, and I was outdrawn.

Late Friday night hands:

Poker Gods smiled on me here -- I was given a nut flush and my opponent was given the 2nd-nut flush.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?830465
Why does this happen so often -- every time I flopped combo draws, someone else has a set and not just top pair, meaning that I had no overcard/2-pair/trips outs, tainted flush outs and zero fold equity. I am fortunate to complete my draw here for a massive pot.

Moments ago I put anxx on tilt when my completed combo draw destroyed his set. Here he was making a play on me -- I have seen him reraised preflop before, and he doesn't reraise this feebly with a premium hand. I was putting him on a medium PP. I stuck with my read the entire hand, I called his bluffs, and I was rewarded -- my read wasn't dead on, but one thing was right -- I had him beat.

Just a poorly played hand. I was fearing opponent slow-playing AK -- should I? Looking at the result I could easy say "push turn". This is so f-ed up.

I have gotten under the skin of this guy, as I have reraised him a few consecutive times before this war. He finally decided to make a move, I stood up to his challenge, and I was surprise to learn that my 99 held up on that brutal-looking board.

QQ vs AJ on a J-high board -- opponent stuck with his hand all the way and went broke.

Monday night hands:

http://www.pokerhand.org/?839404
Huge pot, half of which I didn't deserve. My thinking was that Chancew was trying to pay back at xmc202 and wasn't expecting me to stay in, i.e. Chancew could make this push without a premium hand.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?839405
A real blemish -- so I turned 2-pairs on the turn, but I didn't like all the hearts, so I bet feebly. I couldn't put my opponent on any hand (AJ? Feebly-played overpair? Slow-playing JJ? Broadway hearts? A-broadway with 1 heart?), so in retrospect I should have made a blocking bet.

88, good flop and turn. I checked turn and quickly induced a huge bet from my opponent. IMO a real hand would value bet less because of me showing weakness, therefore I put my opponent on a bluff. I was fully rewarded for my good read.

Trips in a raised pot ==> $$$. Opponent must be thinking that I was betting a Q. It was only after the hand when I realized I called the preflop raise with 75 offsuit (I thought they were sooooooooooted).

http://www.pokerhand.org/?839410
K7o in BB, flopped top 2-pairs. Opponent was really bad -- he couldn't let go bottom pair -- must be because of the top kicker!?

http://www.pokerhand.org/?839412
A good laydown -- I haven't made any of these in a while, and I knew about it only because opponent showed. On that flop TT and 99 would have overtaken me, so I was only beating JJ and losing to too many other hands.
